‘De grote boodschap’ is a campaign initiated by the Maag Lever Darm Stichting to raise awareness for bowel cancer during the Dutch Design Week 2014.


Every year 13.000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer and 5.000 people die of the effects of this disease. However, the disease can be very treatable if it is detected in an early stage. The important message, de grote boodschap in Dutch, is to check your poop in order to detect diseases.


This serious message was shown to the visitors of the Dutch Design Week Eindhoven in a unique and surprising way by inviting them to look behind after sitting on the toilet. The temperature sensitive sticker on the toilet seat changes after sitting on it. Several (graphic) designers with an affinity for bowel cancer were invited to design a sticker.
